Smoothies!

It's hot outside and we could all use something refreshing and good for us. These are smoothies I make for my husband on a regular basis. They make 2 tall servings.
Strawberry Banana
  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 1 c. flavored yogurt
  • 1-1/2 c. frozen strawberries
  • splash of milk or juice

Strawberry Banana (for 1)

  • 1 banana
  • 1 c. yogurt
  • 1/4-1/2 c. juice
  • 6 large frozen strawberries

Berry Peach

  • 2 c. frozen peaches (or mango)
  • 2 c. frozen cherries
  • 1 c. orange juice
  • 1 c. flavored yogurt

Banana Berry

  • 1 c. ripe banana
  • 1 c. frozen blueberries
  • 1 c. frozen cherries
  • 1 c. frozen yogurt or sorbet
  • 1/4 c. orange juice

In a blender combine all ingredients with the soft or wet ingredients on the bottom. (example: juice, yogurt, banana, frozen fruit) This will save your blender from over working itself and all the ingredients will blend quicker. Blend til desired consistency is acheived. Pour into a glass or a cup for the kiddos and poke in a fun straw.

There is no need to add sugar or any other sweeter as long as the fruit is nice and ripe. The supermarket carries a wide array of fruits in the frozen section.

Cheers!

Thanks for the tip about the blender. I always feel I have that problem, the overworking.

Those all look and sound so tasty.

And I had to say that I have the same glasses as those photographed in the 2nd snapshot :)

I LOVE your blog! I am the mother of a child with severe eating issues. We use smoothies everyday to help him get some of the nutrition that he is missing from regular meals. Here are a few tricks: Pineapple hides the taste of almost everything, and can aide digestion. Try adding spinach, kale (fresh) or broccoli (blanched, frozen) to any of the above recipes. I often add pureed pumpkin by the tablespoon as well. Yummy- and if you don't tell them they will NEVER know! Next stop....spinach popsicles...Yep- ANYTHING is possible!

It sounds simple and delicious. And, I'm sure you could change it to suit any taste.
